Integrated Massage Therapy
Creating a more individualized massage by combining the principles of massage and bodywork, Neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, Hot Stones, aromatherapy, acupressure or sports massage and supporting a holistic mind-body approach to wellness. Your session is designed based on your health history, your purpose for massage therapy, your goals or expectations, your physical limitations (ROM) and many more factors that are discussed prior to your session.
One of the many benefits of integrated massage therapy is breaking chronic pain’s vicious cycle. Muscles instinctively contract around painful areas to protect. Tight muscles sometimes press on nerves, causing numbness and tingling. At times tight muscles have ischemia, poor circulation and often develop trigger points, hyper-irritable spots that refer pain and tingling to other places in the body. Massage for chronic pain helps restore normal muscle movement by releasing trigger points, removing waste products, and stretching tight contracted muscles. Weekend warriors, sport, body builders or fitness benefit from this increased flexibility and increased blood flow to the muscles helping to increase strength & resiliency in the muscles.
Therapeutic Deep Tissue intense massage using more specific pressure and cross fiber friction helps to break up scar tissue, eliminate adhesions, knots and contracted muscles, resolve trigger points, relieves chronic patterns of muscle tension and focuses on realigning deeper layers of musculature and connective tissue. Tight muscles need to be warmed up, coaxed into relaxation, before very deep strokes can be used especially for chronically tense and contracted areas. Beginning with too much pressure will cause the muscle to contract, doing more damage than good. Success in Deep Tissue therapy normally requires more than one session. The best approach for treatment of chronic muscle tension is an ongoing schedule along with strengthening and stretching exercises. I look forward to meeting and working with you as you achieve your goals through integrated massage therapy.
